bring it back down, bring it back down tonight,
never thought i'd let a rumor ruin my moonlight

Lana disliked the mid-afternoon. There wasn’t really anything for her to do. She only worked part-time as a bartender at The Cat Club, and even then, her shift didn’t usually begin until around six at night, depending. Sometimes they called her in earlier if they were busy, but they were always second to Silas if he needed her to do anything. Of course, it had been on his orders that she had started working there in the first place. It was run by humans, who leaned toward the side of the Resistance. So far, they had done a good job at concealing any favoritism, serving anyone and everyone who came in, but it still attracted the more… Well, good crowd. But, by working there, she could report to her leader in case anything did start to happen, or if resistance members randomly decided to show up one night, although she only knew the faces of a few.
Still, none of this did anything to quench her mid-afternoon boredom. She was still stuck in a house of mostly sleeping vampires; most of the werewolves were doing…. Well, she wasn’t sure what, but they sure as hell weren’t there. “Ugh,” she groaned out loud after shutting the door of the refrigerator. Of course there was nothing there that was appetizing; most of the werewolves under Silas’s command were older, and therefore liked… well, they tended to be fond of raw meat, something Lana had never really found appealing. And, since most of the humans that worked for Metzger lived on their own, unless they were blood slaves, there wasn’t any good food for them. Great, just great.
Not like she was really hungry. It was just she wanted the option to eat something that wasn’t blood or dripping blood, thanks. Making her way to the living room, the werewolf pup was sure to make as much noise as possible, just in case someone was awake. Hell, it might even wake someone up. Even if they were annoyed with her, it would give her some form of entertainment, wouldn’t it? Yeah, sure. Lana didn’t care if people around her really liked her or not, as long as she got some attention. Huh, maybe it was the little sister complex. Oh, well.
Throwing herself down on the black, leather couch, she stretched out, taking up most of it with her long legs. She sighed again, grabbed the remote control from the coffee table in front of her, and began the fruitless task of finding something to watch on television. Utter boredom and the terrible television was starting to make her tired. Eventually, after what seemed like ages of staring at utter crap, she found one of the Law and Order spin-offs to watch – SVU, VTB, whatever acronym they had for it now. Vaguely she wondered, as she placed the remote back on the coffee table, how they continued to make episodes. Didn’t they just start to repeat themselves with all the friggin’ crimes? Oh, right. They could use supernatural creatures as the bad guys. That gave them at least a hundred more spin-offs.
Slowly, she felt her eyelids grow heavy; how much sleep had she gotten the night before? No, she couldn’t go to sleep, but… yeah, there was nothing better to do. If she just closed her eyes, but kept her other senses alert, that wouldn’t be so bad, right? No. She would just close her eyes for a moment… And in just a couple minutes, she was asleep.
