the breeds:
[/center]humans
Humans are the cannon fodder. We are the vampire's food, the werewolf's plaything, or perhaps the demon's slave. Then again, there are the lucky ones of us who have escaped the night wars; those who have managed to get home every night before dark and lock their doors.
vampire slaves
These humans have no mind of their own and are completely subjected to the will of the one controlling them. They are little more than a zombie, except still living.
vampire servants
These humans are luckier; they are closer to being a vampire’s partner. Their mind is still theirs, and they will gain special powers by being so close to a vampire. These powers vary from vampire to vampire, depending on their strength. Although, if their vampire master dies, the human will also perish, but the human will live as long as the vampire without aging. There is one human for each vampire that is destined to give that vampire the most power - and the vampire can sense it when around the human. Typically, though, a powerful vampire does not wait around long enough to find his "true" servant. PM an admin if you plan on becoming/making a human servant.
psychics
These humans are better able to protect their minds from being controlled by a vampire, but other than that, they are just as helpless. Psychics come in all different forms - telekinetics, audiokinetics, precognitives, etc.
elementals
Elementals are the strongest of the humans. They are able to control one of the four elements - earth, water, air, or fire.
hunters
The hunters are the small group of humans who have refused to simply ignore or give into the dark rule. Whether their family or lover was murdered by something not quite human or they just want to be able to work the night shift in peace, they all have their own reasons for learning how to kill the baddies. All hunters have their own individual methods: guns, stakes, holy water, group, alone. It all depends on their personality.
werewolves
Werewolves are the natural enemy of the vampire. As legend dictates, these seemingly human creatures become something decidedly not human on the three nights each month that the full moon is the strongest. All werewolves are different in appearance and power; some wolves are beautiful and graceful but can never seem to do their own hunting, and others are the stuff of nightmares but kill as easily as if they had asked their victim to lie down and die. While vampires gain sustenance from blood, werewolves desire flesh; the source is a matter of opinion and, perhaps, taste. Any substantial object made of silver—bullet, knife, what have you—through the heart will kill a werewolf, and no creature is immune to beheading. They, like any other creature capable of thought, must make a decision to support one side or the other--and to be loyal to that side or not. Circumstances are extenuating, and vampires and werewolves have been seen fighting alongside one another, though some with more than a bit of reluctance.
vampires
They are perhaps the most feared beings of legend, and the stars of dark Hollywood time and time again. Like the humans that they once were, all vampires are different, in appearance, abilities, strength, and morality. Vampires must feed every few nights or so—depending on their appetite—on whatever they please. Many vampires have sworn off of human blood for one reason or another, though not without a significant reflection of this decision on their powers. The one unifying trait of the vampire race is a weakness to the power of the sun. Being in direct sunlight will weaken any vampire substantially and can lead to death, especially sunlight as powerful as is found in Los Angeles. Vampires are also able to be “killed” by a stake of pure wood or by beheading. Most nightwalkers hold an ingrained dislike for werewolves or at least a feeling of superiority over them, but some have managed to move beyond the ancient rivalry and to “forgive” the wolves for their lack of finesse. Vampires on both sides find themselves in alliances with werewolves; their opinions on the matter of course differ greatly.
demons
The spawn of Hell, the vilest beings conceivable. Demons have no concerns other than themselves and their own gain, and nothing can stop them from achieving their means. Each demon has chosen a human form within which to walk the Earth, and most prefer to keep that form for the duration of their stay. Their motivations are varied, as are their appearances and powers, but for one reason or another they’re here, and nearly all of them prefer the utter chaos that Metzger and his followers are sure to bring with their victory. Some actively support the cause, some assist indirectly, and some just stand by and laugh. These are the foes that hunters hope never to cross paths with; demons are extremely difficult to kill, especially for humans. Only drastic measures such as dismemberment or incineration will suffice.
risen demons
Risen demons are demons that have been kicked out from Hell. They have betrayed their evil leader for the greater good - whether by letting a charge live or perhaps helping an old lady across the street. Some try to redeem themselves by returning evil, others may devote themselves to helping the resistance, but most try to live in the human world and attract as little attention as possible.
angels
Angels are the link from men to God; the purest humanoid creatures in existence. They, like the demons, are rarely found on Earth, but when they do choose to descend, they choose a more normal—less glowy—version of their natural appearance. Their powers and intentions are solely for the benefit of mankind, and they couldn’t be more selfless if they tried. Hopefully no hunter would conceive of such a thing, but for any vampires, werewolves, or demons that are so inclined, angels are a very challenging kill. Their reasoning and strategic abilities are remarkable and lightning-quick, and even if their physical body is destroyed, their spirit is far more powerful than any other creature’s and will simply return to Heaven from whence it came. Angels will without a doubt support the Resistance, though only few of them are actually warriors.
fallen angels
Fallen angels have had their wings clipped because of some sin they committed. Expelled from heaven and forced to live on earth, most fallen simply try to avoid drawing attention to themselves, although some go out of their way to help others while others hold strong resentment toward other angels and their former life.
myths
Centaurs, mermaids, phoenixes, shapeshifters, fairies, harpies, ghosts, dragons—whatever the form, they’ve all decided to reveal themselves and take sides in the war. Their powers are obviously varied, and most of them are unbelievably rare, but they can be vital assets to either side. Choose wisely.
half-breeds
Half-breeds are rare. Most breeds only reproduce with their own race, but it has been known to happen on occasion and through much difficulty. Separate breeds are not meant to procreate, and there are certain natural barriers that prevent it in most cases. Nonetheless, if a half-breed is born either accidentally or purposefully, these children have special powers and are sought after by both sides for this war.
